| The tip jar at coldstone creamery says "fling one and we'll sing one!" When the total for my tasty creation was $5.02 and I tipped 98 cents they did not "sing one!" I guess i'm just always a few cents short.

| It's been a hot minute since I've posted...Seems like a whole lot has happened since I had anything to say last. This Summer has been far too fun to put into words here. 10k Lakes Fest was probably overall the best festival I've ever been to. Minnesota is the place to be in July I've decided. I've been to a few zillion shows since my last post...too many to even remember And I'm going to need to win the lottery to goto all the shows I've planned for the rest of the year. (well that or maybe quit going out and wasting money so much) I need to make my debt disappear, but it probably wont do that on it's own. Jurrasic 5 is september 5th! I'm kind of excited about that since I've never seen them before and they will definitely tear it up. I'll probably hitup the Brewgrass festival in Lawrence that weekend too. Keller Williams is headlining (and War is playing too!...should be hillarious) and after seeing Keller for the third time this year a few weeks ago he finally impressed me with a live show. Then Soundtribe Sector 9 on the 12th...maybe Buckethead on the 13th. Then It's off to Schwagstock 32 w/ George Clinton & P-Funk headlining!!!
If there is one show that you don't miss this year make sure it's Medeski Martin & Wood featuring John Scofield - December 3rd @ Liberty Hall. This show will melt your face...so don't say I didn't warn you in advance!

| String Cheese Incident
07/07/06 Starlight Theater, Kansas City, MO
Cedar Laurels, Missin' Me, Boo Boo's Picnic, Solution, Rhum 'n' Zouc,
One Step Closer, Doin' My Time, Sing a New Song> Rain, Windy
Mountain> Lonesome Fiddle Blues> Concrete Jungle> Born On The
Wrong Planet> Lonesome Fiddle Blues
wow...what a flippin' show! The Lonesome Filld Blues > Born on
the Wrong Planet > Lonesome Fiddle Blues sandwich absolutely knocked
my socks off!
Ratdog closed the show tonight and I must say that I had been really
looking forward to the Cheese on this tour but Ratdog was much more
impressive than expected....absolutely blew the place up closing with
Johnny B Good! It was pretty sweet to get to see the SCI guys jam
with Bobby and the gang. The awesome vegie blackbean burger that
I bought in the lot after the show also deserves honerable mention.
Well I better get some rest...it's off to St. Lou tomorrow for another
Cheesedog show! ...SCI Closes the show tomorrow w/ Ratdog opening
up. I'm a lil excited for my first show at the Fabulous Fox
Theater...it looks to be beautiful (although I'm real glad tonight was
an outdoor incident.) I wonder if tomorrow's incident could
possibly top this one...I guess there's only one way to find out!
Damn...I wish I could forget about my job and just stay on the train to
Columbus, Canandaigua, Philly, and top it off with two nights @ Radio
City Music Hall before 10klf .....or could I?!?!? chyaaaa
right...back to reality monday I'm sure....at least there will be two
more queso-filled nights in Minnesota...less than two weeks!!!

| So I decided to go for a lil bike ride after work today...got a spare
key and a keychain for my belt so I didn't have to tote the usual ring
around. Didn't realize it was the WRONG KEY until I had already
locked myself out of the house!!! I tried to jimmy the handle for
a bit and with no luck I pulled out the phone in hopes that the
landlord was close by in the neighborhood...as I was finding his number
he pulled in the driveway just by chance. That could have sucked
way worse than it did!
I got new neighbors in the house across the street...just finally
introduced myself today (figured that would be a nice gesture since
they've lived there two weeks now) I guess I'm just not used to
having neighbors that speak english. I might as well get to know
them because they've got the biggest porch on the street.
Risky Shift Phenomenon is playing @ californo's in westport on the
outdoor stage tonight. Supposedly they are a Greyboy Allstars
tribute band. I'm interested to see who thinks they can play the
sax like Karl Denson.
Also speaking of great shows coming up...if you got nothing going on
Monday July 3rd, I suggest you get to Davey's Uptown at 36th and
main. (it's not like you've got to work the next day!) Mike
Dillon's GoGo Jungle is playing. Dillon is the percusionist from
Harry Apes BMX and Garage A Trois among other amazing bands...he's also
on tour right now with Les Claypool playing the vibraphones. I
saw the GoGo Jungle @ davey's earlier this year...I promise you wont be
disappointed. (not to mention gogo ray is probably at least one
of the top 3 drummers I've ever seen!)...just throw in some of that
crazy jungle bass and there you have it!

| so it's been over a month since my last post...and what an incredible
month it has been. The Moe. and Umphrey's show on the 2nd was
real real fun. Umps wasn't quite as on top of their game as they
were the previous two times I saw them...but they were playing into the
blazing sun. The Jam with Moe. and Umps at the end of the show
was awesome when they did "lively up yourself" and "Go Go
Godzilla!." Did the Schwagstock thing memorial day weekend before
moe. and umps and it was a blast as always. Zilla was by far my
favorite act there...I had seen them once before at the time (seen 'em
4 times already now...I said it's been an AWESOME month!) It was
awesome to see Spookie Daly play with madahoochi for two sets too...I
love that man. Waka last weekend was amazing...it was a total
crackdown by "the man" but that didn't stop all the awesome
tunes. Of course they stole all 36 of my bottled woodchucks at
the gate so that they could re-sell them on shakedown. Then made
us move our camp after we had been setup for about 45 minutes and had 4
tents up the pigs decided that where we were "was not a camping area
because it's shady." ....long story about all the b.s. I
saw....but I did compile a list of all the full sets I was able to
catch this weekend which might tell me why I'm still a little sore and
it's wednesday!
Chubby Carrier Groovatron Green Lemon Disco Biscuits x2 Madahoochi Mofro Tim Reynolds Pnuma
Trio & Friends Greyboy Allstars Michael Franti & Spearhead Robert Randolph Dirty Dozen Brass Band Keller Williams & Keels Keller Williams solo Les Claypool & "the fancy band" Govt. Mule Yonder Mountain String Band ALO Bela Fleck & Flecktones Zilla Speakeasy I
saw 1/2 of The Mutaytor and then 1/2 of Bennevento Russo Duo but at
least they'll both be at 10klf, and not at the same time then!...the
mutaytor was the biggest visual spectacle I saw all weekend, but I
think it would have been alot better on one of the outdoor stages. I
cut it short because I had never seen the duo and wanted to check them
out as just a duo before I see 'em with trey and gordo.
Things that I told myself I was going to see and I didn't make it Honey Tribe (damnit!) Perpetual Groove (did get to hear it as I was passing out at camp at least) O'teil and the Peacemakers Bernie Worrell and the Woo Warriors 56 Hope Rd. Tea Leaf Green Jerry Joseph Papa Mali Buckethead (saw him sit in with claypool, but missed both of his other sets)
...also missed the STS9 show to see The Flecktones....good choice I'm
sure, since I've seen STS9 twice this year... but STS9's set is
definietly the one tape that I'm most anxious to hear from
waka....anyone catch it live?
I'd say the absolute best show I saw all weekend was the Greyboy
Allstars set they played latenight friday in the revival tent.
Karl Denson is nothing short of amazing everytime I see him play.
I was bummed that Denson didn't end up sitting in with Govt. Mule like
I had hoped. The best sit in I did get to witness was Jamie
Janover (from Zilla) rocking out his mad dulcimer skills with Pnuma
Trio and Friends. (while the pigs sat off to the side hunting
stoners in the crowd with their fancy night
vision)....ridiculous. The Disco Biscuits impressed me more than
expected...I had heard quite a bit of their shows but it was my first
time seeing them live. The best band I saw that I had never heard
before would most definitely have to be ALO (animal liberation
orchestra) they definitely liberated us animals as they played from
4:30 until well after the sun came up. I could ramble about waka
for hours...both the good and the bad. I really didn't like the
pig vibe this year but if they keep lineups coming like that I would
definitely return.
